Capilla del Cristo

This chapel was built in the year 1753. Though it is a small chapel, it is quite historic in the island of Puerto Rico. This chapel has a folklore which was that a celebration by Saint John the Baptist. During this celebration, a horse race was taking place where the racer known as Baltazar Montanez lost control of his horse and fell to the cliffs below. After Montanez survived, the chapel was built where he had fallen. The Capilla del Cristo can be found in the end of Cristo Street next to the Parque of Palomas. Thousands of Puerto Ricans had said their prayers in that chapel.

This was originally made as a military base for the Spanish as they saw Puerto Rico as a military colony. However, nobody would think that it would end up being the home of the governor of Puerto Rico. This building can be found in Calle Fortaleza, near la Capilla de Cristo.
