This project taught us that Old San Juan is not just old buildings, but historical places with meaning. In addition, we learned to work in a group no matter the circumstances, showed us that we accomplished many things when we work together as a group. This scavenger hunt showed us the vital importance that Old San Juan had and still does in the island of Puerto Rico. If we didn't get to do this brilliant project, we would not have known the history of the most historic place in Puerto Rico. This project got us very interested in learning and discovering the places, history, and importance of Old San Juan.
The scavenger hunt was a lengthy process as we had to withstand very hard and difficult circumstances. However, we were able to learn many things of Puerto Rican history as many historical places were reused as museums, restaurants, and even schools through all of Old San Juan. Old San Juan, being the focus of interest of Spain during their reign over Puerto Rico, contains many Spanish heritage which varies from intact buildings to destroyed structures. Additionally, it also contained many results of battles and even forts that can still serve as forts for their sturdy structure. Puerto Rico's Old San Juan has withstand various different cultures who have their small influences that carves the beauty of Old San Juan.
The walk to get to every place on the list is long. But the education that you will receive from Puerto Rico is worth every sweat. In Puerto Rico the sun is very powerful, its practically summer all year round. Tourist that travel to San Juan through cruise ships get to see Old San Juan and tour guides are available for them to get a more organized search of Old San Juan. Many Puerto Ricans do not know their own history of the place they live in. Going to Old San Juan is very fun, you can fly a kite in El Morro or enjoy the food with the variety of restaurants available Also with the heat a refreshing piragua was useful during this scavenger hunt. Old San Juan is a unique place that you will find nowhere except in the island of Puerto Rico.
